The ultra-thin WebViewer is very fast, robust and memory efficient. It is the by Autodesk recommended web based thin client viewer for DWF CAD files. The WebViewer complements the Volo View [fat client for Windows only] offered by Autodesk.

BUSINESS As a true ultra-thin client it requires nothing from the end-user but a standard web browser. Since no client needs to be installed, updated and supported, it offers lowest possible Total Cost of Ownership.

TECH The thin client is a Java Applet [Java 1.1.8], and requires no plug-in such as later versions [e.g. needing Java 2 or Swing].

BUSINESS Platform independence means it supports all major web browser types on all major operating systems. It is an ideal solution for sharing drawings in a mixed system environment.

TECH The WebViewer supports any Java enabled browser [e.g. Internet Explorer, Netscape Communicator] on all major platforms [Windows, Mac and Unix].

BUSINESS The WebViewer is easily deployed on any web server and on any web page. It offers a as close to zero integration cost as you can get.

TECH The Java Applet is embedded on any web page using the JavaScript API on any web server [e.g. Microsoft IIS or Apache].

The WebViewer supports all major industry standard CAD formats for the web, the AutoCAD Drawing Web Format - DWF, the Simple Vector Format - SVF - used by MicroStation and HP-GL for interoperability.

In fact, the memory efficient WebViewer is able to display very large DWF drawings that sometimes not even AutoCAD on the same computer would be able to open, due to AutoCAD's much larger footprint. The Java Applet itself is tiny [less than 200 kB] and is extremely fast.
